Woohoo! Rock on!

Last night – while doing the dishes, I listened to 5FM while they were broadcasting live from H2o, you know – because of Swedish House Mafia and their “One Last Tour”. And this got me thinking: what other artists have I seen? Because it does make for interesting conversation around the braai…..
The following is not in the order that I saw them, but how I remember the event:
1. Linkin Park : it took them forever to visit our shores, but it was so worth the wait! I know a few people experienced sound problems, but just seeing them live; there are no words to describe it. I can admit that I shed a tear or two, but the overwhelming experience forced me too!
2. Tiesto : I remember hearing about him having a gig at Gallagher Estate, and then making my way to a Computicket outlet on a Saturday morning and using my credit card to get tickets. That was also a spur of the moment decision, but one that worked out so lovely.
3. Metallica : The story behind this concert goes a little something like this: it was supposed to be a boy’s night out affair – but I forced myself in with them! I wasn’t going to give that opportunity a miss. And in actual fact, I was supposed to see Fatboy Slim perform that same night on another part of the stadium field, but I couldn’t pull myself away from the stage Metallica was on. I’m glad I can say I saw them perform live.
4. U2: The complimentary tickets were a gift from my sister who doesn’t really like their music. And I don’t think U2 will be touring again any time soon, so it was great being able to see them too, even though they are considered “has beens”.
So there you go, I have only been blessed with seeing those above. I have missed out on Paul van Dyk, Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Live, Swedish House Mafia and Skunk Anansie. It is just really terrible timing sometimes . . . .for instance, everyone spent their money on Lady Gaga, when Linkin Park were announced. And then again everyone who spent their money on LP, didn’t have much left to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Cruel set of circumstances!
But yes, I would still love to the following: Eminem, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters, Adele and Lenny Kravitz visit our shores, so anyone who knows someone at Big Concerts, please pass on this message!
In the meantime I’ll have to make due with listening to all those artists I missed out on, on my music player.
