Another Name Change

September 5, 2012 in Political Satire

Our inept ruling Party at it again – changing names. I think that the ANC government has now officially spent more on name changes than on anything else – except of course Salaries and perks for Government officials.

Some of the regiments that was established before the ANC came into being are now at risk of being renamed, fortunately not after some unknown official’s second cousin but after provinces i.e. Limpopo etc.

The day will come when the acronym ANC will not be associated with the African National Congress but Another Name Change.

Great is the pity that this does nothing to relieve poverty, build houses, create jobs etc. (except for the fortunate company that manufacture sign boards) – probably partly or wholly owned by some official or a family member.

We are lucky that not much remains to be renamed which will hopefully motivate our Government to start building  (Creating something new) that can be named instead of just renaming stuff that was erected and created by the previous government.

This wish will probably die a silent death – suffocated under the mountains of old names – to be called something else.

What remains certain is that excrement called by any other name still smells as bad.

The idea that you can mislead everybody all the time by trying to fool them into believing that something is happening, by changing names, will certainly not cut it for much longer, unless our Government knows something of the mentality of our general population that we are unaware of.

AGRICULTURE SECTOR – THE BIGGEST JOB CREATOR

May 10, 2013 in Political Satire

Despite being subjected to labor action, farm attacks (and murders), high fuel prices, poor road maintenance and more negative than positive input from the government,  Agriculture created the most work over the last year.

It is a shame that this sector has been singled out as the scapegoat for almost all the ills of this poor  beleaguered little country.  Farmers that stay on regardless of the fact that the government is doing very little to put a stop to criminal activity that places the farming community under severe mental and physical stress, are still forming the backbone of employment .

This country has the potential for feeding all the countries South of the Sahara and can reach this potential only with government support. It should be nursed as the goose that lays golden eggs instead of being subjected to negative press and  incessant pressure from labor organizations that threaten to topple this bastion of employment and downstream job creation..

So many of the farms that have been allocated through land claims are now lying idle or are being rented by white farmers with the know-how to produce food. Unlike our friends in the North, our population has not yet been subjected to famine for exactly this reason but should the Government persist with unreasonable land claims, we might end up in this situation sooner than is thought possible.

I do not believe that it is the aim of our government to have photographs of pot-bellied, snot nosed, emaciated kids splashed all over the internet in order to garner assistance from the West, as is so often the case with some of our Northern neighbors.

Boost this sector, make the labor laws more amenable to propagate food production and food security in order that we can again be proud to be South Africans.

BEE CHALLENGE

May 10, 2013 in Ha-Ha, Political Satire

Yet another business closed, not only due to the state of the economy but due to mismanagement by a NINCOMPOOP that was FORCEFULLY employed by a company in a Managerial position to comply with BEE legislation.

Are we never going to learn that Managerial skills are not obtained from books or quick skills development courses but from years of actually working with all the elements that make good managers.

Agreed, University Degrees help people to grasp the basics and therefore place them in a position to get the hang of it sooner, but the true professional would be someone that worked his/her way through the ranks and reached the top by constantly outperforming their peers in all spheres of a business. This in combination with people-skills and a good grasp of the requirements of a business,  really empowers a person to perform the required duties to ensure that the business and by implication the employees, thrive.

Enter an ABOMINATION SPAWNED IN THE NEITHER REGIONS OF OUR UNIVERSE – BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.

Not Economic Empowerment or RAINBOW COLORS Empowerment, Uh, Uh, BLACK as in RACIST DRIVEN – COLOR OF SKIN DRIVEN EMPOWERMENT.

We have moved from a RACIST GOVERNMENT TO A RACIST GOVERNMENT – let us all put our hands together and applaud this great achievement.

We have only one small little problem – Any business that is not managed correctly due to a politically forced appointment of a NON-QUALIFIED person (especially taking into account the global markets) will FOLD!!  I am not propagating that ALL black people do not have the required skills and knowledge. The problem is not with them but with the truly political appointment of a person based on the fact that they are DENSELY-PIGMENTED, regardless of their qualifications and skills. Herein lies the downfall of business  and also effective government as we know it.

This means that all the BLACK people that used to be employed by said business are then UNEMPLOYED. Yes, the whites, Indians, Chinese and Coloureds as well but the black people will take the brunt as the DEMOGRAPHIC ratio has to be adhered to.

And the ranks of the unemployed swell and the queues at the unemployment offices become longer and longer and the burden on the EMPLOYED become heavier and heavier and the TAX burden is placed on fewer and fewer.

AND THEN OUR TOP GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS STAND UP IN PUBLIC AND SPEW THE EXCREMENT OF TWENTY YEARS AGO AT THE MISINFORMED POPULACE AND SAY THE  ”A” WORD AND EVERYBODY IS SO HAPPY THAT THEY START DANCING THE TOI-TOI TOI AND PRAISING THE GOVERNMENT FOR LEADING US ON THIS BEAUTIFUL PATH OF BEE RACISM, REVERSE APARTHEID AND EVENTUALLY UNEMPLOYMENT, POVERTY AND CREATING ANOTHER  ZIMBABWE AT THE EXTREME SOUTHERN TIP OF AFRICA.

TO CARRY A FIREARM OR NOT ?

May 9, 2013 in Crime & corruption, Political Satire

One of our local newspapers posed this question to residents in the Pretoria East area and published the negative response of four people. Nobody spoke out in favor of  carrying firearms which can be interpreted in a few ways: a) 100% of the people interviewed were against firearms as a means of protecting oneself?  or b) No positive responses were published or c) The interviewer was biased and published only negative responses or  d) The number of people interviewed were too small.

A large portion of the respondents cited the “iPhone – shooting” and the “Oscar Pretorius” incidents as motivation against the carrying of firearms.

This sort of “contest” has been going on in the US for quite some time among the “Gunophobics” on the one side and the legal gun owners on the other.

One of the interviewees suggested stricter laws in a country where legal gun ownership is already subject to some of the strictest firearm control legislation on the planet.

Back at the proverbial Ranch, hundreds of thousands (millions?) of firearms are illegally owned and used in a variety of  violent crimes against law abiding citizens.

The question that jumps to mind is whether we should  reduce the resistance potential by further limiting LEGAL gun ownership?

Keep in mind that even if one could count on short response times from Police and/or  private Security response teams, it takes mere seconds to shoot and kill  -  and believe it, criminals do not hesitate to do exactly that.

The only thing that is keeping all-out rule by the criminal, illegal gun carriers, is the portion of the population that stood in long queues for hours on end, attended competency training and subjected themselves to scrutiny by the Police,  to retain their licensed arms. This also implies that  most of them are patient, law abiding citizens and not short tempered, mentally imbalanced gun toting individuals as described by some of the “Gunophobic” fraternity.

At least, some people tend to rely on themselves and are willing to take responsibility for their own safety and that of their families, and often, neighbors and friends, and in the process of doing this, serve as a buffer against  criminals who are at this stage uncertain if they will meet with armed resistance or not. If the ratio of armed to unarmed is further reduced by adding more draconian laws, the criminal element will soon realize that the odds are in their favor and crime will proliferate even more in a country that can ill afford to lose more tourism and foreign investment due to a poor crime record.

iPad SHOOTING

May 9, 2013 in Crime & corruption, Uncategorized

Read the article about Theno Coetzee in the Pretoria East edition of the Record (May 10, 2013) and his claim that he didn’t shoot the vagrant that was allegedly involved with the smash and grab theft of his girlfriend’s iPad.

What is wrong in this country? Is it not standard procedure to do a “Paraffin” test to ascertain if someone discharged a firearm and can the bullet not be recovered from the body to compare with the firearm that was allegedly used by Coetzee? If no bullet is available the caliber can at least be established from the entry wound which, if different from the caliber in Coetzee’s possession, immediately prove that he is speaking the truth. If the caliber is the same as that of the police officers that he claims may be responsible, it may understandably,  take some additional investigation.
What is  required  is to establish whether the suspect should remain in custody or not.
Gosh people, this is not space-age technology, it has been around for almost a century.
It is now unfortunately too late to do the “paraffin” test but if a projectile is available the forensic testing should be completed ASAP to determine whether this person should be sitting behind bars for another week or not.

Zimbabwe Woes

May 1, 2013 in Political Satire

You can never succeed to implement Democratic reforms in a non-Democratic Tyranny.

Democracy means “government by the the people”

In a Democracy, an army is established to protect the population from external threats and a Police force to maintain law and order within the population and borders of a country, according to the Constitution of said country.

When the will of the population is not reflected by the government and the results of an election is already known before the election takes place, it makes a mockery of the term “Democracy” and normally leads to a revolution, armed or otherwise.

If the government and in particular, the head of state manipulates and uses the armed forces and police as bodyguards for himself and his closest allies within his government against the population, it can not be called a Democracy anymore and the will of the population will not be evident in the government decision making processes.

This is euphemistically called an Autocracy which in Africa actually means Tyranny or rule by terror.

The general population, through intimidation by the armed forces and police, are made to believe that any action against the government may lead to incarceration, torture or even death. This belief is further reinforced through a few, very public incidents of extreme treatment of “dissidents” or malcontents. (normally after closing the country to foreign correspondents and so forth and severe censorship of local news) This has happened a few time already !  Any news of such incidents that “leaks” are normally met by extreme denial and claims that it is a ploy of the opposition to discredit the ruling party.

In a country where one of the first actions by the fledgeling government was to disarm the population, there is not much hope of an armed revolt.

Couple to this extreme poverty and unavailability of many of the basic amenities and the part of the  population that have not fled to neighboring countries yet, become unable to do so and will probably lack the will to oust the offending government..

The hope of the few that have a grasp of Democratic concepts were placed on Tsvangirai but this poor individual was probably subjected to the “special” treatment of the ruling elite at the beginning of his political career to soften him up and bend him to their will.

Anyone that do not believe in coincidence will probably have inferred at the time, that the unfortunate motor vehicle accident to Mr. Tsvangirai’s family members was probably aimed at severely curbing his exuberant efforts to bring about Democratic change, I do believe that he truly wanted to make a difference and wished to place Zimbabwe back on the road with a semblance of Democratic rule.

Alas, Africa wins again. I believe that Mr. Tsvangirai, without the coercing would have made a worthy opponent to the black “Hitler” of Africa but whether the events in his life was coincidental or planned by a very crafty manipulator, the reforms set out at the beginning are not going to be brought about by his efforts – great pity because he paid the ultimate price.

One can almost hear the thought processes of the President of Zim“The world wants “Free and Fair elections”, let us plead poverty and let THEM pay for the election. It is a win-win situation. I has worked in the past and surely it will work again. get a few million for nothing that can be used to pay off the military and police and the remaining few million can be deposited into a few of the many numbered accounts or front companies elsewhere, swelling the Mugabe family fortune to bursting point. HA, HA, Ha, Ha, Ha – gullible arseholes. Post observers at  a few, well trained and rehearsed polling stations to make everybody happy and make sure that we win the election by a big enough margin to enable us to change the few Constitutional laws that are still offending (They don’t really care anyway).” end of thought process.

PRETORIA MAYOR TIRADE OVER STREET NAME CHANGES

May 1, 2013 in Crime & corruption, Political Satire

MAYOR ADAMANT ON STREET NAME CHANGES

In our Democracy (Ha,Ha) – The republic of South Africa that is, The Mayor of Pretoria, , sorry, Tshwane, Kgogientso Ramokgopa, displays the following disdain towards the Democratic processes and ruling of the High Court of South Africa.

Quote from “The Record East of Friday, May 3 2013”

Quote” NO FORCE OUTSIDE THE TSHWANE METRO COUNCIL WOULD TELL THE METRO NOT TO CHANGE STREET NAMES EXCEPT FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY”

This follows the ruling of the High Court earlier this month that the old names should remain a little longer.

Ramokgopa said the following: “ THERE IS NO FORCE OUTSIDE THIS CHAMBER WHO WILL TELL US NOT TO TOUCH THE STREETS, UNLESS IT IS OUR PEOPLE. THE EXERCISING OF POWER IS NOT NEUTRAL, WE ARE EXERCISING IT FOR A PARTICULAR POLITICAL PURPOSE AND AMONG THIS WE ARE TO MAKE SURE OUR CITY, OUR PROVENCE AND OUR COUNTRY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL PEOPLE”

“THERE IS NOBODY WHO IS GOING TO USURP OUR POWERS. THOSE POWERS RESIDE WITH US AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT WE WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT TO AFFIRM THAT POSITION. WE ARE GOING TO EXCERSISE THAT POWER AND MAKE SURE THAT THESE STREET NAMES ARE CHANGED” HE SAID.

Please bear in mind that the report (s) pertaining to the so-called PUBLIC PARTICIPATION REGARDING THE NAME CHANGES was nowhere to be found at the time of going to press.

As an example, CHURCH street (I think almost all towns and cities in the world has a “CHURCH” Street) was changed to “Stanza Bopape” Street.

I took the liberty of asking a few of the locals if they knew who Stanza Bopape was. Of the twenty odd people , 15 blacks and 5 whites, that I interviewed, nobody had any idea who or what “Stanza Bopape “ was.

It is not like Church Street has any political implications or that it was named after some white oppressor with the surname “Church”, it was simply named Church street because a church was situated in this street at the time of naming.

As for names that have reference to the Masterminds of the Apartheid system, i.e. Verwoerd, it should be kept as a reminder of the era which as a part of  our history can not be obliterated by a mere street name change.

The streets, structures and city was founded after the Headman in the area “Tshwane” was consulted by the white settlers and paid for the land. The Mayor and those of his ilk contributed very little or probably nothing at all to bring about what is known as the City of Pretoria.

The same holds true for every other town and city that the politicians are now so keen to rename.

I feel strongly that it is false to put the name of some political activist on something that was created by a hard working people who tamed the wild country to bring order and civilisation, towns and eventually cities to this country.

If you want to name streets and cities to commemorate the leaders of the struggle and other noteworthy individuals, BUILD SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN NAME.

At this stage “ANC” is not the acronym for African National Congress but for Another Name Change.

No real change will happen if the only change is to street and city names.

It could be called WHITEWASHING but for fear of being called Racist let us just call it a cover-up for ineptness. (For those that do not know the meaning of the word “INEPT” see below)

Inept is derived from two words namely “In” and “Ept” The “In “ denotes the negative form and the “Ept” part means “sufficient” or “able”.

Put together INEPT means Not ABLE or Insufficient or not up to the task at hand.

World Water Day

March 22, 2013 in Political Satire

World water day 2013 coming up. People all over the world are again made aware of this precious resource. Back in the Republic of South Africa, (that is the country situated on the Southern tip of Africa where most of the planets’ gold, diamonds and PGM’s are mined or used to be mined), the few rivers and fresh water reservoirs that we have in this essentially water poor country, is contaminated with faecal matter as you are reading this.
After the ANC take-over during 1994, an orgy of nepotistic appointments as Municipal Managers, Mayors etc. ensued. Most of the appointees in turn, again appointed family and friends as Department heads and the spiral continued downwards. In the wake, many highly qualified and experienced Municipal workers were discarded.
The results of this orgy became visible only a few years later, when lack of planning, inept fund management and corruption resulted in failure of municipalities throughout the country. Sewage treatment facilities were either not upgraded to handle increased loads or mismanaged and poorly maintained.
The sudden influx of rural people and refugees from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and other African states did little to improve the situation.
Many smaller Municipalities were incorporated into larger entities in an attempt to improve the management, but alas, too late.
The know-how and expertise has in the meantime left the country to find greener pastures in Australia, New Zealand and other well managed countries where nepotism and corruption are not the norm.
The ugly monsters conceived during the orgy are rearing their heads all over the country. Often when you get close to waterways you are greeted by the monster’s rich, raw sewage tainted breath. Once pristine reservoirs are now off limits to people who want to do water sports, unless you have a death wish.
Yes, our esteemed leaders will do the lip service and probably show of the one or two water treatment facilities that are still functional. As for the rest, ??
It seems to be far down the priority list to repair and upgrade water treatment facilities and appoint people with the necessary skills, foresight and qualifications to manage these facilities. Millions are rather spent on opulent lifestyles, upgrading of Ministerial dwellings and holiday homes, overseas trips etc. list too long to mention.
WORLD WATER DAY – IN THIS COUNTRY? -WHAT A JOKE.

VRYHEID VAN SPRAAK

December 27, 2012 in Political Satire

DECEMBER 21, 2012

December 20, 2012 in Political Satire

Some people are scared shitless, some are anticipating extreme change –WHY? It is always the end of the world – referring to the poor abused planet earth. The scenario always includes the Christian God (and apparently the Mayan gods) wanting to obliterate everything that was created (once perfect).

The Planet did not commit any wrongdoing, in fact the whole nature, except Homo Sapiens-Sapiens is constantly trying to regain balance and normality.

We – the humans, are procreating (fuc&#%) things up, constantly looking for more ways to feed, clothe and house the ever increasing multitudes. The whole process of population growth is required to keep the wheels of poorly managed economies – world wide turning. The notion of preaching a slowdown in population growth (by any Politician worth the name) is a big no-no, unless you want to lose the next election of course. We are screwing ourselves into extinction in the process of providing cannon fodder for the factories and industry (and often wars) . In fact, some economies thrive on the premature use of their cannon fodder in the form of child labor – a lot cheaper.

We still have some time to turn the tables – not many years, but maybe a few. The end of the world that is so feared will probably be of our own doing – not God or some catastrophe as spectacular as some of those depicted in the movies.

More likely than not, we will start drowning in our own waste, water and food sources contaminated to such an extent that it becomes unfit for human consumption.

The latest horror perpetrated in this country being the Hydro fracturing of the Karoo shales to extract even more CO and CO2 producing fuels.

This must obviously be weighed-up against the benefits – job creation and revenue producing exports. Bugger the Karoo and the groundwater, which will probably become so contaminated that it will be unfit for man or beast.

There will be the lucky few, the very rich and  some high ranking Government officials who have accounts all over the show, especially in responsible countries where population growth was taken out of the economic equation long ago as a means to create the impression of prosperity. Jump on a plane and go to one of these countries. It will buy the guilty a few years of respite until these havens also go the “sewer” route. The only organisms that thrive in their own wastes are viruses and bacteria – if you expose man to his own shit for long enough, he will die.
