Establishing a Workplace Forum – Part 4 of 4

Section 79 of the Labour Relations Act clearly stipulates the four main functions of a workplace forum as stated below:To seek to promote the interests of all employees in the workplace whether or not they are trade union members;

  • To seek to enhance efficiency in the workplace;
  • To be consulted by the employer, with a view to reaching consensus, about the matters referred to in section 84; and
  • To participate in joint decision-making about the matters referred to in section 84.
