Cooking for 2 at Hirsch’s Umhlanga

Hirsch’s Umhlanga recently hosted a Pensioner’s Cooking Demonstration  entitled “cooking for two”   – which focused on cost saving – and producing  small but elegant dishes at the same time.  Said Hirsch’s Jason Morris “We had 21 pensioner’s come in and join us.  Our Chef’s prepared a Chicken bunny chow, cous cous with butternut and cranberries along with an excellent pineapple and carrot salad.  We also served thirst quenching water infused with mint leaves, berries and orange.  Using the AEG Pressure Cooker, Nadira demonstrated a step by step method and prepared a juicy curry in less than 40 minutes, she used a round bun instead of a quarter loaf which is half the price and a perfect portion.   We then served our guests a perfectly made cous cous and salad which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and commented how the flavours really worked well together .

We ended off our Menu with delicious date balls .  Towards the end of the demo we had a prize for the person who could answer one of the questions from the demonstration and win themselves a Margaret Hirsch Cook Book.”
