Koebaai!
I have just returned from Ocean Park, arguably Hong Kong largest family amusement park.  Yes, even bigger and more popular than Hong Kong Disney Land!!

And I have lots of stories to tell and pictures (and a video or two) to share!

I have just created a "Part 2" of the KaapseKlonkie Experience and I'll let you know all the new details tomorrow.

Finally!
Yebo Yes!  I finally recieved the following response from Admin:

The additional storage space for pictures is high on our list of
priorities for blogs. We understand your frustration and will do
everything we can to speed up the process to increase the photo limit.

We appreciate your patience and apologise for the inconvenience.

Ja en Dankie Admin, ek weet die goewerment issie so oppie bol met die lê van daai Oos-Afrika kabel nie en dat hulle eers hulle pêlle in wil bring om te share innie BEE Deal.  Maar nou ja, julle sal seker net so voor 2010 daai storie uitgesort hê (ek hoop).

Nothing, Niks, Nada, MeiYo, Fokkol
So far, I have not received any response from the blogs.24.com Admins.

I must admit I'm quite disappointed.

(I don't know if I should sign off with my usual)

Appeal to Blogs.24 Admin
In an earlier post I mentioned my shock at finding that we at blogs.24.com are limited to 200 pictures.  While I understand that this decision may be based on storage and/or bandwidth limitations, I nevertheless decided to send the following note to the administrators.

"My Blog (blogs.24.com/KaapseKlonkie) is about my experiences living in Asia.  For this reason, I depend a lot on photos for my posts.  I recently found that I have reached the maximum of 200 photos.  Can you please review this rule so that I can continue to "tell my story" ?  It is just not the same without it."

A story about Hong Kong will just not be the same without a photo like this:

I live in hope.

Only in Hong Kong!
One of the great things about travelling is undoubtedly getting to know new languages, and the nuances that go with it.  For example: some words used in one country may not mean the same as in another, though it may sound the same.

Lemme give you an example:

The shopping centre next to our apartment is called Fok On Garden.

Then there is the following little write-up I just found in today's edition of the free newspaper HK.

Mother in Law

Former Mainland police officer Wong, 37, is found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend's mother, 81-year old Ho.  In December 2006, he threatened to elderly Ho by holding a knife to her neck.  Hoewever, as a former police officer who practised martial arts herself, Ho was strong enough to defend herself and fought back.  Ho said Wong should be shot because he is " an insult to the Mainland police force"!

Just in case you were wondering, Ho is a popular Cantonese (Hong Kong Chinese) surname!  Imagine if the elderly Ho lived in the US!

HK Sixes (Cricket)
South Africa in the HK News...

Defending Champions South Africa is expected to once again take to the field in this year's Hong Sixes... the Cricket equivalent of the highly-successful Rugby Hong Kong Sevens.  Other teams that will compete for the $US100 000 purse are Australia, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, England, West Indies, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

However, organisers have expressed their concern over the effect of the controversial Indian Cricket League (ICL).  They fear that there might be a fall-out if players, who are expected to form part of this "break-away" League, are included in teams for Hong Kong.
"if the various cricket boards ban players from taking part in the ICL, there will be a conflict of interest in them taking part in our Sixes," according to Clive Howard, Chairman of the HK Cricket Association.

Local organisers Hong Kong Cricket Association is trying to lure the "big names" in world cricket to form a crowd-pulling All-Star Rest-of-the-World Side.  Name's being bandied about include West Indian Brian Lara, Pakistani Imzamam ul-Haq as well as Aussie Shane Warne.

The tournament is pencilled in for the weekend of October 27-28 at the Kowloon Cricket Club, but the possibility of making it a three-day tournament is not excluded.

I hope to be there.

The Cape Town Gatsby
I recently (finally!) joined the FaceBook community and lo and behold, I found the "Gatsby Appreciation Group" !  For those who don't know, a gatsby is a Cape Town fast-food dish made up of a "foot-long" bread roll, filled with salad, slap-chips, polony, viennas or steak/mutton and sauce.

For the Capetonian in you
With drool of delight dripping from my mouth (and with some pics from the FaceBook Group) I made this video:

Blogs.24.com Photo album
You probably know my blog as an account of my experiences as a Capetonian in South-East Asia.  You may also know that pictures are an integral part of my story.

With my previous post, I found out that we are limited to only 200 pictures in our photo albums.

To the managers of blogs.24.com and the knowledgeable among you 24.com Bloggers, can I request a review of this allocation?

Ek vra maar net 'seblief.
